Paddle Surfer’s in Banderas Bay come across 16 meter long Humpback Whale with Baby…

The Pacific Paddle Surf crew left Bucerias 9am Tuesday morning with 3 newcomers for an Intro to Paddle Surf lesson – conducted daily at 9am on the beach in Bucerias.. Well this was a special morning as the group blazed thru the ocean awareness & ground school, and charged out the the open sea….

Moving  towards the La Cruz Marina, we started to notice several dolphins playing around a large stationary “Hump” in the water,  every few minutes the hump let out a huge breath of air in a mountainous fountain.. Could it be a the Monolithic Humpback Whale..?!The same amazing beast that we have been watching for the last few months throwing its massive 16 meter body out of the ocean?? The crew took a bearing and moved towards the mass..The thought of encountering one of these acrobats of the ocean sitting still was very mysterious..??? was it giving birth??.. why was it just sitting still basking in the sun?? It was as we got closer we realized it was indeed a mighty Humpback Whale of about 40 tones!!  Not only was there a massive 16 meter Humpback whale floating on the surface, but a 2 months old baby as well! incredible! We kept our distance and circumnavigated the massive Cetaceans.

The Whales were totally tranquil, apparently resting from the previous days festivities…

We stuck around until we could stare no longer from lack of fluids and sun stroke, only to be bid farewell by a huge fin flapping on the surface of the ocean as if to says “Caio”!! incredible.. every day on the bay is such a magical experience!

So come and paddle with us, We will provide the equipment & training and the Ocean will provide all the entertainment.. so far this week we have been absorbed into a school of Dolphins, and now the Whale encounter!!! wow whats Next!! Don’t miss out!
